Looks very edible.  I'm thinking backstraps, marinated in lots of butter and garlic, some toasted sweet onions and mushrooms,  with a big baked spud for desert.

Wow!!! My buck just pales in comparison to that stud.  Makes sense that Daniel was the guide on that monster.  :chuckle:

Can't eat antlers. I'd rather have tasty, tender back straps.

Did you have to quarter him out to get him out of the woods?  Makes my back hurt just thinking about it.  :chuckle:

Was that a yearling with good genetics or 1 1/2 year old with bad?

He wasn't a fawn, he was 1 1/2, that's why I was glad to get him out of the gene pool.

I took one similar once during late buck, it was revenge exacted on him for my missing of a Monster BT the night before. He still ate good, just didn't last very long. I enjoy the taste of venison too much to not try and fill my tag every year if lucky.

This is not to be taken lightly, it was an arduous task for the guide to determine if this was a trophy we dare pull the trigger on!  :chuckle:

When I was a much younger man(14-16) my buddy and I started what we called the "Baush & Laumb Club"
Anyone can spot a good 4 point at a couple hundred yards. To get in this club you needed some good glass to make sure the trophys had antlers, the smaller they were the higher they ranked.

Below is a pic of our record holder. On the last day of the season it took over an hour to be sure it had an antler that was 1". Turned out that the buck had been shot in the very low leg(was broken badly) so I felt better about putting this one out of it's misery.
