Here's mine. It could be a twin of Yak's except the little "crab claw" on mine is on his right side instead of his left side.

Not a great pic, if someone could zoom in on it for me it would do a little more justice to this forkey.

Not really "super", but he was a decent forkie.  Got an eyeguard on his left side and I thought I wasn't going to tag up that year.  That eyeguard kilt him...
Sorry it's such a crappy photo.  Disposable camera... :bash:

Here's my biggest "Forkie". He does have a small crab claw on his left side so I guess he's a 2X3. I harvested him in 1999.

I was with pathfinder101 when he shot that buck. Horns might not be that special but it was a great shot! He was the second person i guided into that spot and at least he didn't disappoint me. The person before him missed a 5x5 6 times starting at 45 yards and the last shot at 200 every shot was a standing still broadside shot. I wish it had been the 5x5 in from of Pathfinder.

Phool, that buck looks like its missing most of its tail?  Are some different than others or could it have been frozen off like a cows? :dunno:

Dude I can totally answer that one for you.  I saw the answer to this on a hunting show yesterday.  Here's what wildlife biologists have found.

Originally they believed it was from coyotes or black bears but after research they found that it comes from other more dominant does when the deer are just fawns.  The does will bite them by the tails and toss them when they are pissed at the less dominant does fawns.  When they whip them around or toss them often times part of the tail breaks of or rips off  :yike:  Kind of jacked up but there you go.

Bone those are some sweet pics.  You'll have to Pm me where some of those locals were taken.  This year during my wifes rifle season in the LT. Murray we saw two big "forkies".  One is easily 25 inches wide with lots of mass and the other one was easily 22 inches wide.  Both looked to be from he same gene pool.  We saw two other forkies both were about 18-20 wide.  Man my heart was going with that big one I thought my wifes first buck was going to be a total pig.  Glassed him from about 150 yds away for the better part of 10 minutes trying to find a third point, anything.  But no luck.

I think I still owe CoryTDF a beer for putting me on that buck.  He knows the ground out there, and if I had been by myself I would have popped out on him 2 ridges too early and blown it.  That was the year of the big fires in the Blues and there weren't a lot of bucks to be had.  I thought I was gonna have to eat tag soup.
He put me on my buck this year too... and he wasn't even on the mountain when I shot it!!  Talk about someone who oughtta be a guide....
