Tag. Also, anyone that has gone on a baited bear hunts with the local tribal guides and would either go again or recommend it please keep me in mind. I've got that type of a hunt on the list as a possible must do for an out of state fat old man kinda dad! Please feel free to PM me if you would prefer to lay low.

liljozie tagged one in copalis on our spring hunt in rayonier land this last season. Saw another gut pile during the hunt so there are some bears around for sure.

Hi I just moved here. What Rayonier area was the bear taken? Are you talking about Copalis Crossing Rayonier land or the Rayonier gates along the highway to Ocean Shores on the right?

off of hwy 101 to the west side, i think that is where most of the permit area is? I am not completely sure how the yearly passes work there, we just got our spring bear passes to go in during the time frame the tag was valid for. It is tough hunting for sure, we just got lucky. A lot of thick country there.

I bagged this sow on the Quinault Indian Reservation last month.

Around 7:30pm I saw her move across the clearing towards me. She sat down in the woods about 15-20 yards to the left of my blind and sat there for about an hour, watching the bait. Since I didn't have a shot on the bear, I sat there as quietly as possible waiting for her to move. Talk about an adrenaline rush! Around 8:30pm she stood up and ambled across the clearing to the bait. After a couple minutes, I got a clear shot and hit her right behind the shoulder with a 290gr Barnes T-EZ bullet from my CVA Wolf Northwest.

You can see how it all went down in the video below. My wife and I have been eating that bear meat for the last couple of weeks and we're quite impressed with how it tastes.

h20hunter (and anyone else interested):
You can book a 4 day bear hunt over bait on the reservation for $1,750 plus $250 for a tag

Thanks....I actally know a forum member that was on a hunt with Letty (sp?) just this last week. He saw a number of bears, did take one, and spoke highly about his experience.
