After he turned and presented a better shot yes indeed! Not a fan of the Texas heart shot, but it sounds like he is close enough for a head shot if a guy had a good rest.

Nope.  Legal or not he needs a couple more years on him.

I passed a few bucks like that this year. I refuse to walk up to a dead deer "hoping" it's legal. If you zoom in on that left side that "3rd" point looks like it's filled in and not crab clawed. No shoot for this guy but to each his own. I got to see first hand this year what happens when you hope that 3rd point is a inch long. Guy lost his gun and the deer and was gonna get a court date in the mail.

I see your point here and I agree about waiting for a better shot or view.
I'm going off of what we have here and what he's asking. Would you shoot.
With the info. We have in the pic. and from what the regs state. "3 Pt Minimum:
A legal deer taken in these GMUs must have at least 3 antler points on one side A 3x3,3x2,or 3x1 are legal in a 3pt min unit, Antler points must be at least one inch long measured from the longest side, including eye guards."
In this setting. I see enough proof to consider it legal, and at 70 yards I beileve I'd shoot if I was able to get a stable platform. Not standing another words.

Here is another angle with a close up of the antler.  Anyone want to change your mind or are you still shooting?

I would pass, though I think the argument could be made if measured from the longest side to the main beam it is over an inch.  I don't know how they would measure the spaded out antler and what the definition would be to the main beam.  Not worth getting in trouble....it walks in my book.

ya id have to change my vote now with this angle
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

It looked like he had a little kicker in the first pic.

Technically it looks like the point originates from the fork and if it was not webbed in it would look a couple inches long. With that said I believe it is a legal Buck due to the point origin being over one inch.

Here are a few more pics for discussion.

First picture shows how I may be inclined to measure the longest side to the main beam.  Pretty vague law / description.

Second picture shows the small kicker / notch in this bucks horn.  Definitely not an inch long.  I would like to see this buck next year to see how he grow.

I had a 22" 2pt with the same type of (3rd) points off the back. There was no way I was drawing back on him. I wish I had a photo of him to ask people the same, legal or not.

I agree with RB that it looks like front left starts a couple inches down and is webbed out but no deer is worth that debate.  :twocents:

Yes that is exactly what my point (pun intended) was the definition of origin. That is what I see as well.
