Who drafted 594
« on: November 19, 2014, 10:30:44 AM »
Who did? and if so was an entity involved or public servant? If public servant did could be some big problems if they did it on their work time.

Who drafted it?  Likely some law firm associated with WAGR or Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund.

This is Bloomberg.

Quote
The new effort is launching with a $50 million commitment from former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the support of high profile figures from both sides of the aisle.

The new group, Everytown for Gun Safety, will combine the efforts of the Bloomberg-backed group Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a grassroots movement founded the day after the 2012 mass shooting in Newtown, Conn. The two groups have been working together since December. The new effort, taking a page out of the playbook of powerful interest groups like the National Rifle Association, will attempt to hold public officials accountable for their stance on gun-related issues and make it a key issue for voters at the ballot box.

You're making a wild assumption with the public servant accusation.

One of the key writers was King Co. Prosecutor Daniel Satterberg, supposedly a Republican. As I've posted before, this is the same guy responsible for dropping gun charges on Leland Russel two years ago after Russell discharged a handgun during a traffic altercation. Russell was therefor legal to purchase a handgun this past spring after a background check showed no gun problems, and killed two people at a Kent gas station in April.

This to me was such a clear indictment of the effectiveness of the initiative that I can't believe more people didn't sit up and take notice. Sleeping people.

You've said that before (Satterburg authorship).  Was it posted or stated anywhere?  The only thing I can find is comments to newspaper articles, and as far as I know, those commenters could be you.

I got that from a Seattle Times article on the initiative. Not in the comments but in the article. I'll attempt to find it.

I did a Seattle Times search and then was told I needed to subscribe. Not going to subscribe to any rag which supported I-594, especially the ST. I'm fairly certain it was either them or The News Tribune who printed the info. Satterberg also lent his support to it here:

So now I understand Hanauer's Funding of I-594.

Quote
Hanauer — an early investor in Amazon (AMZN) who says he has been involved with more than 30 startups — cites the well-documented rise in income inequality during the past 30 years as the ultimate cause of a Mad Maxian dystopia he envisions. "If we don’t do something to fix the glaring inequities in this economy, the pitchforks are going to come for us," he writes. "One day, somebody sets himself on fire, then thousands of people are in the streets, and before you know it, the country is burning. And then there's no time for us to get to the airport and jump on our Gulfstream Vs and fly to New Zealand."

When he save "I-594 will save lives", it becomes a bit clearer now.

Well, this woman is certainly making Nick Hanauer's case for worries of a revolt by the agitated peasants.

They're almost openly campaigning for a second look at the guillotine.

Quote
Dame Vivienne Westwood, the fashion designer, has declared that people who can’t afford to buy organic food should "eat less" and stop getting fat. The millionaire designer made the comments as she delivered a petition to Downing Street protesting about genetically modified food.

When a BBC Radio 5 Live interviewer suggested that "not everybody can afford to eat organic food", Dame Vivienne replied: "Eat less!"

Told that many people in Britain are visiting food banks because they don’t have enough to put on their tables, so "to eat less isn’t an option", Dame Vivienne was dismissive.
