Subject: Big Iowa Buck

Attached is a picture of a buck, Chris Wood from Des Moines shot
this Saturday, December 6th with a shotgun during the 1st shotgun season.

He was hunting with a group of guys from Perficut Lawn Care, they were
hunting in Taylor county by Bedford, IA. It was Woody's turn to post on this
push. He was standing just inside the timber when a group of does came
running by. This buck just walked by trailing the does, he was about 60
yards away when Woody shot. He only ran about 40 before piling up.

We scored the deer Sunday night and came up with a green score of 264-0/8",
it has 33 scorable points and it has one drop tine. If the score holds
close, it will be the 2nd largest buck harvested in Iowa; next to the Albia
Buck.

It's true, the picture is not edited and the deer was harvested totally
legal!
Enjoy,

I just checked the Boone and Crockett Trophy Watch website and this is what they have...

Taylor County, Iowa produced this non-typical for Chris Wood of Des Moines on December 6th during the state's first shotgun season.

The reported unofficial green score was 264-0/8 from 33 scorable points.

The current Iowa state record non-typical is 307-5/8 taken from Monroe County in 2003 by Tony W. Lovstuen.

That definitely is a buck of a lifetime.

Fantastic buck. I would love to get any non-typical, but this one is a beast.  :yike:

I copied and pasted in to my photo program and it looks to be worked over with some sort of photoshop/like program. even the guys face doesn't line up, his mustache/upper-lip is mismatched. It does look like a real rack though.

I didn't even notice until you pointed that out and then I decided to take a closer look.

I haven't used any software, but to me the neck looks like a fold in the hide from turning the head up while gravity is pulling the hide down.

IMHO it looks real. If it's not then it's some of the best PS work I've seen.

I'm saying fake!  Plus, the guy is either missing his right ear or his double chin is covering it up. I don't know.
