I haven't used any software, but to me the neck looks like a fold in the hide from turning the head up while gravity is pulling the hide down.

IMHO it looks real. If it's not then it's some of the best PS work I've seen.

I'm saying fake!  Plus, the guy is either missing his right ear or his double chin is covering it up. I don't know.
