New Hunter looking for experienced friends.
« on: March 03, 2015, 05:20:18 AM »
So, I've never hunted before but I've applied for my hunting license and should have that relatively soon.  I purchased a Mosin Nagant M44 that I'll be using for hunts.  For now, I'll primarily hunt coyote, and maybe raccoon, as coyote can be hunted year-round and I should start practicing right away.

I'm looking to learn as much as I can from experienced hunters about gear, tactics, etc., while tagging-along on hunts or at local ranges.  I am familiar with and comfortable around firearms, as I was in the Army Reserve in my younger days.

In the meantime, I'll be heading out to hike hunting areas to get to know the terrain and environments.

Where about do you live so we can point people who live in your area to you? What kind of animals do you have the desire to hunt?
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

Well, damnit.  That would have been good information to include, right?  I live in Seattle and I own a Chevy Silverado, so I can travel and camp relatively easily.  I'd like to get started practicing hunting coyote through the Spring and Summer; leading-up to a deer in the Fall.

I've completed the online class portion of the hunter education course and I'm registered to complete the field education class on April 11. (everything in March is already full)  After that, I'll have my license.
