Alaska back country moose and caribou
« on: November 25, 2014, 10:38:52 AM »
Some pics from the last few years of moose and caribou hunting up here.  We stick to areas that are "controlled use" areas,  which restrict all motorized access.  We've hunted moose and caribou using horses almost exclusively over the last 10 years, and its been pretty productive for us.  Sure learned a lot about the do's and dont's of packing.

My daughters 2014 caribou.

Her 2013 caribou.

and a couple of moose pics

Great pics and love you're getting your family out to remote hunts.

Will you be writing up a little excerpt from the hunt to share.... ?  :IBCOOL:

Thanks for the welcome.  I brought my dad up here this year (he lives near Lacey), to do a moose hunt.  Not exactly what I would call backcountry, but it was about 25 miles up river if that counts.  This was more of an old guy hunt, from our cabin and mainly just sitting and calling.  We called this guy in on the second morning and my dad ended the hunt.  Was great to see him walk up to the animal and realize how big they really are.  Was a great hunt, different from my normal, but still great.

I have done some over the years, and can post some of those or copy the link to them.
