yakima bird camp
« on: November 23, 2014, 04:37:50 PM »
I'm hunting yakima this week solo. Know my way around pretty good, but where does a guy camp for the night? Somewhere off canyon?
The deer are exactly where you find them, and no where you dont!

I haven't been there for awhile but there used to be free campsites along the river between Yakima and E-berg.  If you want a hookup there is a very nice state campgrounds right in Yakima, I stayed there on my way back from the WPHA hunt last Jan.  You might look into the parking areas east of town by the fishing ponds.  I camp in lake access parking lots around The Pothole and ML all the time.  I believe you can camp on any BLM land if you stay within 200ft of the road, I stay in them in MT NM, AZ and NV.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

I stayed at Big Pines over the weekend, Roza, was wide open as well as Umtanem. The Sportsmans St. Park has closed everything except the two RV loops (as of two weeks ago)and shut down the bathroom facilities. The Yak Canyon sites are free right now as long as you have a Discover pass. Not sure if I can get back this weekend, but let me know if your going over in December, nice to have someone next door to BS with, nights are long this time of year.
Albacore, the better white meat.
