rut still going in 124?
« on: November 29, 2014, 10:47:46 AM »
I thought for sure the run hadn't hit full on during rife season based on my cams and what my dad and brother told me "lots of does no bucks". I have been out the past 3 days and only been see I does with no bucks behind them. Is the rut over? Was it really short and early this year? Cant figure out where all my bucks went.

I was moose hunting with a partner who had the tag in 124 this weekend and we saw quite a few deer and not a buck with them....might be between the rut periods still...Les

I was in 117 today.  Saw over 20 does and only 1 small spike by himself.  My game cams show me lots of does, couple of bucks wandering by.  Seems real quiet right now.  Temp this morning was 29.  At 4pm 14.  COLD wind from NE

We also hunted the last 4 days of the general late rifle season in 124.  Only saw 1 spike chasing around a doe.  Saw tons of deer every day in groups of up to 15 deer.  Saw only a few small bucks and the 4 pt my son shot.  Don't know where all the bucks went. Normally see at least 3-4 mature bucks during the late hunt.

Moose hunt went well....my partner who had the cow tag had not really gotten to hunt it much because of health issues and a death in his family. He scored on a nice calf this morning and the best thing was we were able to load her up whole. Lots of good eats................Les

Got a little buck yesterday that was rutting. First one I've seen all year rutting and he came running in grunting up a storm chasing a doe. Saw a real nice 4x4 that didn't have a doe with him. Maybe the better bucks aren't rutting as hard?

I feel the rut is over or close to in 113.  Hunted there last weekend and game cam that had been up showed bucks chasing does about 10 days ago with swollen necks.  Ever since, all the bucks on cam had no does with them.  All the does we saw the past 3 days had no bucks chasing them.

I was hunting up until the last day of rifle season. I had some small bucks by my stand that we're chasing some does. I also went out the first few days of late archery and didn't see any bucks rutting. I think it might be late this year...
