at full draw...where is your arrow in relation to your face...in other words i guess...when i draw, at full draw i use a vane on my arrow as a kisser button sort of...it always ends up in the corner of my mouth. this puts the knuckles on my draw hand just below my ear. it seems comfortable to me, which may be all that matters, but seems to maybe be long? i don't know, i'm new, bear with me...i'm curious to hear your thoughts on this.
my bow was set up for me at the nock point, so i'm pretty sure it is where it should be, but i am wondering.

I can't say for sure with out a visual but it sounds like your ok to me. I hook my thumb around the back of my neck and my Knuckles are just below my ear.

Jackelope, the first knuckle of my index finger is locked just below the ear lobe at the angle of the jaw.  It sounds as if yours is about right.  Is your bow arm in full extension with the nocking point you describe or do you have it slightly bent?

i am concentrating on always leaving my bow arm slightly bent....which brings up a whole other set of questions...

I shoot with my arm slightly bent.  I switched from a 30" draw to a 29" draw a few years back and my 3D shooting improved drastically. 

The main thing though, if you're shooting with your arm bent you must have a rock solid anchor.  For me there's nothing better than anchoring with your string touching your nose.  I anchor a lot closer than back at my ear.  This also helps get my release trigger buried into the 2nd knuckle of my index finger instead of on my fingertip.  I shoot a Scott Little Bitty Goose and set it up so that it barely hits the middle of my palm when laying in my hand.  It feels strange at first but is very good to shoot once you're used to it.

Bottom line is: What ever you are doing, it simply needs to be repeatable and consistent for you, shot to shot, under hunting conditions and with you wearing your hunting clothing.

If anyone here is having a difficult time with their set-up and doesn't have a "go to" place for in person answers, for a compound bow, "The Nock Point" in MountLake Terrace will be a good visit.

For instinctive recurve or longbow shooters, you just need to be consistent in your form and equally if not more important, working on the intensity of your focus. It's helpful to practice in a manner which will direct you towards having each arrow you shoot be an important one. It's not difficult. An example I like: Find a 7 year old kid who's out in a field shooting the heads off dandelions. Just do what he's doing. He's go it all figured out.

Where it "should be" is where its most consistent and repeatable for you. Sounds like you have a "high anchor", some prefer low. I'll try and post a few pics to show you some different techniques. Style and equipment often determines anchoring technique. hmmm... Ive uploaded a few pics but seem to be having trouble posting them. There in my gallery I guess..lol Wherever that is.
