Anyone got any pros or cons about these packs?

Both my hunting partners bought one this year.  I wanted one bad, but had just bought a new badlands day pack...serious regret.  The gun holster is the best design I've seen.  Super comfortable and looks, feels, and appears to be durable...heavier weight material.  Might be a tad on the heavy side for packs that size.  Gun stays nice and snug and does not wobble around while walking.  Slides in and out easy too.

Get me one too, please.

Actually, I guess it's still pretty light.  My bad lands day pack has about the same space, but is almost 2lbs lighter. 3 lbs 10oz. is pretty light, especially considering how rugged it seems.

Depending on what you're using it for, I would say the Gunslinger II is a lot better pack. :twocents:

You may be right. :dunno:

I will look into it.

Pack will be used for day trips out of camp with long Range rifle, hunting.

I'd defiantely look at the Gunslinger II then. Another great daypack for the kind of hunting you're talking about would be the Team Elk pack. I actually prefer the elk because of the better design to hold the spotter and tripod. Both these packs have the large scabbard opening to accompany any rifle with bipod and 50mm scppes.

Well I was at Cabelas today and put my hands on some packs. I decided the gunrunner is too small. And the Dragonfly is too big.
Now and looking at the Just One Pack.

Anyone got one?

I was just at cabelas today too and checked out the team elk from eberlestock. Seems like a good pack and the frame has a shelf area on the bottom. It doesnt flip up though.

I had one. Very universal pack, but too many things I didn't like. Small rifle scabbard opening.  Poorly designed top pouches. Wouldn't compress very tight when empty or light loads. Heavy loads seemed to shift or wobble too much for me as well. It still is a decent pack,  just not for me.

Ok now I remember .
The team elk has a metal frame which I am not really in too.

Some times I like to sit and glass from the rocks with my pack on, and I think the rigid frame would get in the way.

Being  a old fat guy I have also taken a couple good falls and I think the hard frame would be worse on my back when I go thud.  :dunno:

Good thread, I decided it was time to replace my wore-out badlands 2800 for a day pack. Really wanting a scabbard. Is anyone aware of a pack made with the scabbard besides Eberlestock?

This is the pack that I have been running the last few years. I have had 100lbs in it. It has a lot of adjustment with quality parts. It has a rifle carrier build into it that folds up when not in use. It will also pack a bow which is nice for a guy like me that hunts with all 3 weapons most years. It not a full scabbard but has a sleeve at the bottom and then a couple strap that hold the gun in place under the rear panel. It's not quite as fast as a scabbard to get the gun out. Most of the time when I am hunting I don't pack it in the scabbard. Only when I am just covering ground mostly in the dark.

I am picking up a gun runner very soon. I used one a little on my cousins elk hunt. We had a base camp and when we would go out for the day hunts. He had one and I really liked it. I just like the frame packs for hauling a load out on the first trip out after a kill. Yet for some of my hunts the little day pack with a scabbard will work great.
