can someone assit?
« on: December 01, 2014, 07:24:59 AM »
This is my first year elk hunting... I have been out to some areas.... saw a few really far off never could get close.... or by the time I got there they have moved on or disappeared.... I am hunting muzzle loader season with a bow and I have a West side tag.. I would be grateful if someone could take me out or point me in right direction not asking for honey holes but if you give them to me it will be a 100% secret :)  thanks a million ya'll

Good for you, you've gotten started. The number one problem with elk is that a lot of elk ground simply does not hold elk year round. If you have not done so take your map with the locations marked where you saw elk to the local WDFW office and talk to the biologist. He may be able to get you dialed in on that herd, or another.
You will kill more elk in an area you know intimately, assuming the area holds reasonable numbers, then by bouncing around.
The upper Snoqualmie Valley has a good elk herd that has worn out it's welcome. The state has been encouraging the elk to move up onto Hancock timber property as well as forest service ground. Probably too late to get a Hancock permit this year but you should due so next year.
Good luck.

This time of year keep the wind in your face and try to get ahead of them so you can set an ambush while they move to you. It's not easy. Once you get the first one down the rest seem to get a little easier but you're learning something new every time you get out there. Good Luck.

Sneakiness doesn't even begin to describe your desired actions in the late hunts.  Creep, creep, creep.  Find some good quiet reprod and get slowly lost.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

??
Why are you using a bow?
If it is your first year, why limit your tag by a weapon choice?
If you have a WML tag, you can only hunt in areas open to ML.
If it is inside a firearms restricted area, MLs are legal...
If you can find the elk, and have a day during ML season open, can I bring my daughter?
