TC contender questions

Hey guys
I have an older Contender Pistol and am wondering if they make a stock for them to make it into a rifle. Wanting it for trap line and maybe my 9 year old can shoot it with the right stock.

One thing to look at, check out the Choate folder.  I've seen one on an Encore....it would pretty darn slick especially for your intentions.

I got mine from gunstocksinc.com and had them install good recoil pads before they sent them to me and I had them made in a custom shorter length of pull when my kids were 8 and 11, turned out very nice and my little 11 year-old niece is using one of them now and when she grows out of it I'll have it for my grandkids. with the extra short LOP I had extra holes drilled and tapped forward of the others so I could mount a scope further forward to allow the shooter to put their head in the right position instead of having to lean back to see through a scope. I have bull barrels on mine.
be aware however that once you put a buttstock on it, it then has to have at least a 16' barrel to be legal. you cannot have a buttstock with a pistol length barrel.

I might look at the m4 style, i have a 6 and 9 year old and would be great for the trap line. I need to check regs here in Montana and find out about barrel length with stock

Doesn't look like there are any barrel length or caliber restrictions to worry about in MT

MT says under 10 1/2" in considered pistol

I have a 14" heavy barrel in .223
Can I put a stock on it and let my kids shoot it legally

i found a "federal firearms laws" page on the net and it shows under "prohibited firearms and ammo"

on the buttstock I got directly from T/C it says right on the buttplate/pad embossed on it, do not use with barrel length less than 16", I may still have that buttplate since I replaced it with a recoil pad. I'll look when I get home later.

That would be a frame that started life at the factory as a rifle.
John's is a pistol from the factory so that doesn't hold true. He can put a pistol length barrel on it as long as it doesn't have a shoulder stock on it. Once it has a shoulder stock on it, it's a rifle.

No, it has to be both. Barrel over 16" and overall length greater than 26".

that's what the buttplate came off of is a rifle buttstock, if you read my 1st post that's what I said to him.
