Master Hunter cow elk GMU 127
« on: December 05, 2014, 04:10:23 PM »
Anyone have any elk sightings in this area? Primarily the DNR and Inland Empire Paper Co. ground off the Belmont Rd? I do not know much about the area, but do have the onXmap to keep me lined out. This area of ground seems like it would be a better fit for the elk as opposed to the Radar Site Rd. off Star Rd. Any knowledge of land owners in this area which are usually willing to at least talk to guy about taking a cow would be beneficial as well. Season runs from Dec. 9-31. Thanks..........

I will start by saying sorry. Don't mean to be a jerk, but this post is exactly why I say the "Master" Hunter program is a joke!

131 head south of elder, I'd start knocking on doors,  they will stay on private.   As a master hunter you already know to have asked well before the season starts.

Isn't the master hunter program just a good ole boys club? Wouldn't someone at one of those meetings know it all? A big group of master hunters, now there's a lot of hunting knowledge...

Ouch, the Master Hunter Haters are out in force.

The haters always crack me up.

To the original poster:     Good  luck!          I hope you get your elk.       When  you  do,  be  sure  to  post a pic  of it    here so the haters can have something else to complain about (since apparently they aren't smart enough to pass the test....    ;-)

To the OP.  There are friendly folks on here regardless of the warm welcome you have received on your first post.

I would offer advice on your cow if I knew the area, but I don't.  Best of luck to you!

If you don't mean to be a jerk, then start another thread about your little problems with the MH program. This guys has some questions about the specific area. He didn't design the program. You've posted a lot of great posts on HuntWA, JKEEN. This isn't one of them. If you don't want to help a fellow hunter with a question, that's up to you. Just try to remember he IS a fellow hunter.

Then start your own thread. I'd be happy to participate.

OK. I'm not looking for a fight, JK. I'd be happy to discuss this with you on another thread if you want. Have a good weekend.

Thanks, you too. I know you guys do a lot of good things. I just don't like the special permits.

I didn't even apply for one this year. I'm not in it for the meat. I'm not alone.

" Instead I'm offering a conversation on why the original comment rubs a lot of us the wrong way."

Sorry you do not approve of a hunter attempting to find as much information as he can from other potential resources. You should feel quite blessed you never have to take advantage of gaining any information on anything other than from yourself. I guess if I had asked my questions a month ago, 6 months ago, a year ago.....perhaps they would have had a better chance of gaining your approval? Forgive me for doing my ground work ahead of time before I attempted to check the information I have received, beforehand, against the knowledge base which I thought might exist and be happy to help another hunter here.  Where, in my original post, did I say I knew nothing of the area, or had not made any contact with local property owners? I know little of the area because I have never hunted it. I personally would only consider myself quite knowledgeable, of an area such as this, after several seasons of hunting it. And this would only be true for me to say of myself if I had been able to gain as much relevant information from what others knew about it as well. But that is me.....we are not all built the same, and some of us obviously have higher opinions of themselves than others. I have however done a couple of scouting trips and have gained some access from private land owners, though, in my opinion it can be risky to get landlocked with one agreeable landowner and be bordered with 1-3 others which are not. I also do not fully understand why you feel I am taking opportunity away from you and other non MH's with this hunt? On my outings to this area I have run into moose and deer hunters. I do not know how many different individuals were afforded an opportunity either through draws, or other means to hunt game in GMU 127? It is true, a special designated group of individuals are afforded an opportunity to kill an antler less elk after 3 months worth of opportunities by other permitted hunters to pursue whichever game they held a tag for. Had I been successful killing my bull during the general season, I guess I would not have had to irritate anyone, esp. you, on this forum. I guess in one sense you may be correct? Had this, antler less only, late season muzzy (my tag) hunt, been my only option or opportunity to hunt, I would be more knowledgeable than I am right now. So, in time, I guess I will learn more of what I feel I would like to know of 127, though I doubt I will ever know everything about anything.............Best wishes to you all, happy hunting, and Merry Christmas!

If you read my quote from f&w these are sopposedly damage hunts. If there is a general season in that area there should be no need for a damage hunt. If there are to many animals the state can adjust the regular season. How many days did the general muzzy season in the area run? I'm willing to bet not 22 days. That's like saying we need wolves to control the population. Resources are limited. We don't need a special group to manage it unless it is in an area with potential hazards. In that case I would think they would call you and say we have a field full of elk. Please take one and move the rest of the herd out.

Merry Christmas to you too!

All your rant served to do was drive another guy off the site......

Bad move.   Bad form.

The guy came on the site seeking some help.....    The same reaosn many of us came here initially.    And your rant is the first thing he sees.    All you've served to do is divide.    Get over yourself.

From what I know of him, he could have a lot to offer the site, but I guess you and your petty rant trump bringing quality people on board.

You are probably corect. As you pointed out earlier us non master hunters are not as smart as you and should probably be excused for our ignorant actions.

I'm glad you caught that and own it   It's always good to be self-aware.

I still find it sad that you think it's your God-given duty to be a jerk (as you self identified yourself earlier) to people just trying the site out.
