So here it goes,i got the chance to hunt some privet property in area 121 next season,after this years crap with JBLM not opening enough TA i decided to say screw it and blew off the season,im going over there in march to scout for turkey,im told by the land owner its 160 acres and she is going to talk to other land owners around her to see if there on board,so my question is it going to be worth the 6 hr drive and what to expect on that side,im told there getting out of control to the point she is thinking on getting a loss prevention tag.and does anybody know is it difficult to get doe and send deer tags for that area.

Not sure exactly what you are asking but if you have private ground you will be fine. Lots of depredation and second deer tags over there. Good luck

I live not to far from JBLM (retired Army) the 6 hour drive is always worth it for me been doing it for over 15 years. but I hunt public land so for you having access to private land would be a plus.

Lots of 2nd deer tags?  How so?  The only 2nd deer tags in 121 are right on the 395 corridor.  Unless he has permission to property right next to the highway there is no 2nd deer opportunity

Where is the property located in 121?  There are not any extra deer tags there that I'm aware of and it is a 3 point mule deer, 4 Point white tail unit.  160 acres in the right area is probably an easy deal for turkeys, but is a rather small area for deer. Either way, it's best to scout the unit and have some other areas on line in case the 160 acres don't work out.  121 is a real Mish mosh of public and private ground with a mix of reservation ground thrown in for good measure.  It's worth the drive, but you want to make sure you know  where you're going  or you can spend a lot of time trying to find a place to hunt. We run into a lot of frustrated hunters every year who complain all the birds and deer are on private ground and they haven't done their homework to either get permission or locate the public ground. There are some youth doe tags in the area that are pretty easy to fill if you can get one.

You pretty much nailed it.  Lots of guys that drive 3-7 hours to hunt deer here only to become quickly disenchanted with their lack of success.  What they dont seem to understand is that you need to spend time scouting and learning an area.  Without fail camps will pop up with guys who expect a slam dunk, so they put no time in outside of the season.  Seems like about 1 out of 10 guys in these camps that pop up get a young 1.5 - 2.5 yr old basket rack buck,  and after a year or two they dont come back.  If you cant make time to come scout, and youre relying completely on a 160 acre parcel to fill your tag, you may want to reconsider your plan

The property is in Addy if that helps, its farm land and from i undersand they are getting fat off of her alfalfa ,we're going to scout it a few times before the season starts and help out on her property, all white tails, only one 4 point was taken this year but she didn't really open it up to anybody I think, I may just be over thinking this a bit but tag so doesn't taste very good lol

All deer get fat off everyones alfalfa, she doesnt have an isolated problem.  160 acre farm is a drop in the bucket and if you hunt it wrong the deer will be gone til you are........so, you step foot in there with a weapon, the deer are gone, that simple.  Pick a spot to watch edge cover and dont move.

If she has a problem with the deer, a simple call to wdfw will line up eager youth hunters for the does.  Plenty of timber company lands to hunt free with in minutes of Addy, plus backside of Iron Mt. just to the east.......Id do the farm for turkey but not depend on it for deer.......expect a learning curve for deer...................

Dont loose your taste for tag soup because deer is far from automatic here..................

buckfvr is right on and solid advice from a local.  I have been hunting Addy (Orin Rice) for 15 years plus and love the 4 point requirement but then again I put the time in and benefit from it.

Addy is good area for both deer and turkeys, but the fact that someone took a 4 Point shows you probably won' t be alone.  It would take about 5 minutes for a couple of hunters to run every deer off.  If you are going over to scout for turkeys you're better off waiting until as close to the opener as possible.  Turkeys in 121 quite often don't break out of their winter groups until a week or two before the opener and that same group you see in March may very well be broken up and gone come April 15.  Fair amount of open ground around Addy, but also a lot of private ground.  I'd really recommend you find several options before you commit to that 700 mile round trip drive.  Pretty area to visit and you'd be just over the hill from Lake Roosevelt,  great spring fishing there so bring your pole if you come over.
