Nevada question
« on: December 07, 2014, 02:58:59 PM »
Hey gang,
So it looks like I'm moving to southern CA in March and will be within reasonable driving distance to Nevada. Just curious if there are any descent deer/elk/antelope areas to hunt southern NV? Also was wondering if there are any OTC tags available for non-res or if they are all draw tags (deer/elk/antelope)? Thanks for any insight anyone can offer!

All tags are draw.  Huge deer and elk in Southern Nevada.

Pretty sure our system is based off of theirs.

As a resident there for 35 years I used to draw a deer tag nearly every year I was there. Just depends on what area you want to try to draw in. The trophy areas are hard (same as here) but the more general areas (Like around Elko on the east side of the state) were pretty easy for deer. I never hunted elk while I was there, but drawing for those is MUCH harder. I have also heard that it takes about 5 years (on average) to draw Antelope. You will also have the option to put in for desert bighorn. Good Luck!

ours is similar to NV. I know of several people who draw good tags quite often and some every year
