Oregon's New Proposed Tag Fees

I'm sitting  on a lot of points In Oregon, but I think I'm going to drop out of the game. It's to much money to pay each year. On just a hope that I can draw in about 10 more years.

Is Oregon really that much better than neighboring states?

They have some good hunting. But only a few areas that are worth an out of state hunt to me. I'm just trying to draw some of the best units. And you have to buy a hunting license weather you hunt or just apply.  I have 13 years invested. At the future prices I don't have thirteen more years or applying in me. And it will take that or more for me to draw. But it will make the odds better for  those who keep paying it.

I'm sitting on 13 deer points and 18 elk points, cashed in my antelope points this year. I think I will cash in my elk points this year or next and call it quits. In Oregon you don't loose your points if you don't apply for years so I figure I can always do something with my deer points later if I get desperate.

Oregon as a whole is awesome!  I hunted oregon last year archery OTC both deer and elk and the season is 30 days for any elk, and buck for the same 30 days! So you can shoot either on any given day.  I found that to be awesome, see a buck go after it, or see an elk go after it.   

I probably see a 100-150 deer a day.  With lots and lots of bucks.  There are elk hotspots that are draw but oregon has a ton of elk!!  The one thing I found funny was in 30 days i heard 1 bull bugle, and I was 60 yards from him in the wide open. No other bull I seen would bugle.. 

If you can afford it, I believe its worth it..

I lived in Oregon for 15 years. Back when there was still a lot of deer.

I quit when it went from like a 100 to 150 a few years ago. I started back up with Oregon last year. It's not to much of a jump when you figure it into the cost of the whole trip.

 If I was hunting it each year it wouldn't be a big jump in cost. I stuck it thru the last few big jumps in cost. But I'm just applying for great areas and the price is getting to high for that slim chance I will draw down the road. I will rotate between hunting Idaho and Wyoming. The quality of an easy to draw area in Wyoming is better than anything Oregon has.

Notice what's projected for future bear tags. Apparently they have no bears in Oregon?

Looking at these elk point pages, there are a few hundred People ahead of me. At three tags a year it won't get to me

I lived in Oregon for 30 years and just moved to Washington this summer. I'll be back hunting Oregon as a out of stater this coming year. If you know where the elk are it's a great state to hunt. NE Oregon is where i'll be in 2015

I quit hunting Oregon a few years ago when I drew my bull tag. I still have a couple of deer points but with the non-res license fee just to apply for a tag you have little to no chance of drawing........ no thanks..... my hard earned dollars have been going to Montana and Wyoming these past few years
