Gaiters
« on: December 09, 2014, 10:32:02 PM »
What brand and model does everyone use and like, what do you not like?

I am looking for quality but also quiet. I've helped several guys the last few years that wear them, but every pair they have used have been noisy as hell, either rubbing against each other or making noise through the sage/bitterbrush.

Take a look at the gaiters at Kenetrek.  They're the best we've found so far.

+2 Kenetrek.  When I got mine, Sportsman's carried them.  So you can check fit with your boots before committing.

I really like the OR gaiters for fit and function, but they can be very noisy.  Best ones for hunting IMO have been the older Kennetrek and the Blacks Creek (now Remedy7).  I actually think the original K'trek ones were made by Blacks Creek :dunno:  Remedy7's are about $9.00 cheaper from most pro shops.

Have not used the newer style K'trek so I have no knowledge about them.  Look nice in the pictures ;)

The newer kennetrek are built like the OR, but with the typical fleece-like outer layer that keeps them quieter.

I'm hoping to get a pair of Kenetreks from Santa this year. I've done a lot of net research on them and they seem to be the quietest. Whacker1 has a pair and really likes them.

Just FYI, I saw that the new Bass Pro store carries Kenetrek boots, so you might be able to check out the gaiters in person there as well.

Outdoor Research Crocodiles. You'll love them!  I don't know what you're talking about them being noisy...  :chuckle:

I ran the kenetrek's for about 3 years with good luck, finally wore them out. Bought kuiu's for a recent Ak trip, worked ok but the lace hook is ass backwards. Later had the stitching and a button snap fail. Emailed kuiu some pics and they are sending me some new ones. Kuiu stuff is nice but imo they are new enough that they are still working alot of bugs out of there gear. After starting to run gators I can't believe I ever hunted/hiked without them before, from snow to wet brush to creek crossings etc. they are a must have peace of gear!
Go hawks
