Damn crunchy snow!
« on: December 21, 2008, 10:51:18 AM »
I get up early this morning, shower, spray down, all scent free all exited and ready to go track down a buck with my bow.  I take one step out the door and CRUUUUNCH!  Damn it!  How in the hell is a dude supposed to sneak up on anything with that racket?  I put off going yesterday evening in order to tow the kids around behind the four wheeler.  Now I have to hope for a little thaw to quiet things down or go hang my tree stand in the middle of the day and try to sneak into it early this evening and just wait it out.  Maybe this should be in the "pisses me off" thread?  Don't ya hate crunchy snow?

Dont feel bad!  I did the same damn thing...what a waist of great snow.  I might as well carried a shotgun and fired off around every 2ft...might of been a distraction from the stupid crunhhhyyy snow!!  I was so pissed off!  I went about 50yds turned around and went back in to the house.  Dang if U do and Dang if you dont.
The wife said if I go hunting 1 more time, she's going 2 leave me!!  Gosh I'm gonna miss her.

Get back out there and cut some tracks.  Find where they are feeding (it will be obvious).  Be there in a ground blind an hour or two before dark this evening.  (Pack a case of hand warmers).  Shoot a buck and crack open a thermos of soup!

I'm gearing up to go hang my treestand right now.  Hell, if I can sit in a groung blind in -1 for several hours last weekend I sure as heck can do it in 33 degree weather.  I figure if I am in it long enough before dark the woods will have time to settle down from my thunderous approach.

I don't know how I got this subject in the fishing forum.  :P
Well, I sat in my stand until it was too dark to see my pins.  Passed up on a spike and a wanna be, tiny 3 point.  There were also 4 does messing around.  I was surprised to see that many deer this evening.  I will have to try it again tomorrow evening.  Hopefully a shooter will show.   :dunno:

I was wondering what this had to do with fishing.   :chuckle:

Hope you have better luck tomorrow!
