Says the guy who took an 87 yard shot at a running deer

Dude.   :chuckle:  That deer died in the cut.  I didn't flip the arrow cause I was desperate.  I shot cause I was confident.  My bow has the same velocity as a 100 grain .243, just ask rad, he told me so.  Bloodshot a lot more meat though.  Even at 87.5 yards.  I've heard story's of a certain significant other taking LONG Shots too...  Let's make this an ethics thread we don't have enough of that.  Or even better a long shot w the bow thread.  I want to hear what's the longest us archery hunters have KILLED an animal.  Rad I'll let you start.  :chuckle:

243 MV is 2960 give or take a few feet per second.

The fastest current bows are the market top out between 360s to 370s feet per second. The fastest crossbows top out at 415-420 feet per second. That is just the speed, actual kenetic energy onto the target is far less than that. I would very much like to know how you have an archery setup shooting over 2000 feet per second.

I'll bite, 67 yards on a coyote.

Longest shot on a buck, 43 yards.

Longest (only) elk ~7 feet

Shouldn't it be the other way around   :o

Fps means nothing. 100 lb ft ke is where it's at.  My arrows are lead.  Actually pure carbon with a little brass.

PURE carbon :chuckle:

It's gettin deep in here!

Farthest shot on an elk for me was this year, a follow up shot on a bull at 64 yards

34 yards on a deer

Around 30 yards on a bear, no time to range

Nope, double lunged him and watched him tilt over after about 100 yards.

Step away from the YouTube. You're posts lately make me wonder whether or not you are in favor of hunting at all. What is the point you are trying to make with this thread? 1st you attempt to put a black eye on hunters that use bait, now it seems as though you're attempting to start drama with the bowhunting community. I'd challenge you to find a single archery hunter in this online hunting community of several thousand members who takes head shots with archery tackle "all the time". I'd almost think you'd find very few if any that say they'd take that shot at all.
Rather than throw stones at your fellow hunters, try standing together with them.
I agree with Jackelope 110% on this :yeah:

100 ft lbs of KE? That's only about 50-90 ft lbs LESS than a .22 long rifle! SMOKIN!!  :chuckle:
