I was on the other end of this once as well, had a black lab come up out of a ditch ten feet in front of me, the dog didn't have a chance. I stopped and the owner came out, I'm not sure who was crying more.... It sucks no matter what.

thank you all for the kind words and thoughts. I picked up saddie's ashes last night so she'll be home for Christmas.
