Go Pros
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:28:23 AM »
Anyone out there have experience with GoPros? Good? Bad? Hero 3 plus. Silver? Black? What's your recommendation for a camera to be used hunting, fishing, skiing, biking? Is the additional cost for newer models or from silver to black really worth it? If you were on a tight budget what would you get. I am not looking to create professional videos. Just good quality videos that I can look back upon and share with friends and family

I have the silver and it does what I need. I don't have any experience with the black. They are a lot of fun almost addictive. Have fun.

I have the black in the hero three plus and love it. No experience with any of the others. I was told to save up for the black when I was getting ready to buy one. Everyone I talked to said the same thing to get the black..Just my two cents..

I have the black and have filmed several hunts with it. I would go a different route if looking to film hunts. I called in a yote and shot it at 42 yards and looks like 100 yards away. Same with a couple of turkey hunts. It's. Good for close ups, but 40 yards is pretty close for hunting and still looks a mile away...

I have 3 for filming different things and use them for POV & "B" roll mostly. Borrow one or two from a friend before you buy... make sure it works for you in the way you want to use them.

I just picked up a hero 3 and so far I love it. I will primarily use it for offshore salmon and tuna but I'm thinking next deer season and antelope out of state should be fun too. I really like the bluetooth option because the remote mounting location on my hardtop sport fishing boat.

I am out here in hawaii, big island.

My buddy just flew in the other day, and he just got a new go pro, I think it was the $$$ model.

We went diving today. We took that thing down 30+ feet on the reef, and the footage is stunning. He had it on the wand, and even walking around in the shallows chasing the little fish, it is simply out of this world. We were free diving, but that tiny camera captured images that blew my mind, even though I was swimming right next to him, seeing the same things he was filming, watching the footage on that tiny screen was unbelievable. Those cameras capture things beyond the capabilities of the human eye.

I was right there next to my friend seeing what he was filming, but the clarity and detail and resolution of those cameras makes what we saw surreal. We have on film things you only see on national geographic, but with unbelievable clarity.

The only downside to go pro is limited battery life.... Buy extra battery's
catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

I smoke two fish in the morning, I smoke two fish at night, I smoke two fish in de afternoon makes me feel alright

If you don't need the faster frame rate to do slow motion, I would recommend the 3+ black for price.

As others have said above, the GoPro will give a wide view and for hunting, I would not recommend it.  It will be best to get a camcorder or dslr that can shoot longer video clip.
