like the non-hunters would really obey it anyways.  Not sure I've seen hikers leash their dogs.  I see lots of dogs out on the trails and all the hikers have the leash at the ready in case a ranger shows up.

Poor example of what could happen, stuff like that allready does, generally what happens is the guy with the lab shoots....
Well hopefully they will say you can't walk pet dogs out there, only hunting dogs.

Why would someone with a hunting dog be more entitled than someone without?

Say you're out hunting birds, your dog goes on point, and some jackwagon's pet lab comes bounding along off leash and causes the bird(s) your dog is pointing to flush and you lose the shot. That tap dances on hunter harassment, can lead to a dog fight, and one mad hunter. People who aren't hunting with their dogs really need to keep them leashed during hunting season.

Hey Sam, thanks for asking. There has been numerous complaints, reports, and conflicts between hunters, non-hunters, hunting dogs, and pets in all of my wildlife areas this season and the 2013 season. In response to these reports, I am excluding dogs on wildlife areas except for hunting. Most issues were pets and pet owners interfering with pheasant release, pheasant hunting, pets chasing pheasants off the Unit, pets and non-hunters interfering with waterfowl, decoys, and duck hunters, and folks using pheasants for training purposes.

For the remainder of the hunting season, pets are not allowed.

Thanks for asking.

you can bet your ass it will be anoither regulation for the hunters.... lest not forget we(hunters) are the minority and all our actions or our dogs actions are going to be scrutinized.  The WDFW is not run by hunters, for hunter, so I would not expect anything less :sry:

You have been doing great things out there in an under utilized area that is close to many hunters.  Atta Boy

Pheasant season is over on the West side.  When do the other hunting seasons end?

Popped in to the Fay road entrance to see if there any updates and saw this new sign. There were three people headed into the parking lot from the field wearing hunters orange and walking their GSPs. The group walking didn't appear to be hunting but I saw them discussing the new sign as I was leaving the lot. Time will tell if this new sign will make any difference.

I don't really care for that new sign. I like that they're giving preference to hunting dogs, but what about guys who want to exercise their bird dogs in the off season? I'm not sure yet if they're also doing this at Scatter Creek, but I used to exercise my dog out there all the time. I haven't been so much anymore, since I have kids now and don't have time, and especially since my Brittany recently went blind. But that will be disappointing if I ever get another bird dog, since one of the reasons I decided to live next to Scatter Creek was so I'd have a place to exercise my dogs.
