buying a truck
« on: December 14, 2014, 05:57:42 PM »
So after the first of the year I'm going to start looking for a truck....I really like Toyotas but the price for a newer quadcab is outrageous and I'm thinking about full size....I don't tow anything so that's not an issue....what are the pros and cons you guys have had going from a Toyota to full size or vise versa

Never owned a Toyota but bought a new F150 quad last year and love it. But honestly I think all of the trucks are pretty good right now.

I went from a 1998 tacoma to a 2011 sierra crew cab 5.3 v8. I paid 28000  from sunset with 50000 miles on the truck. I get better fuel economy with my Sierra then I did with my 3.4 v6 Tacoma. You have way more power if you need it down the road and more room in the back seat. In my own opinion I would go full size over a smaller Tacoma.  I average 21 mpg going from maple valley to wenatchee and average 17.5 city. Just my  :twocents: good luck and post a pic of what you get!
This is the year im going to get drawn, i can feel it. NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED... damn :(

I have a 2011 tacoma and I have just one thing I don't like about it.  Can barely fit my quad in the back, have to leave the tailgate down.  I lash it down good but it's still kinda sketchy feeling.

IMO the mpg on the full size and the tacomas stink. they are over priced but I guess what full size isn't. You can't go wrong with a toyota for its reliability though.

That's why I have always liked yotas....very reliable....but I have a 12yr old and a 5yrr old and I need the room....part of the reason I would consider a full size is the extra space...maybe a tundra or a f150

So are you more interested in cab room i.e. quad cab or a longer bed?

Bought a new 2013 tundra crewmax 5.7L thru Costco loaded for 38k. Love it. More HP and TQ than Ford or GM.

Yeah I'm staying away from them
I cannot speak to them, but it might be worth your time looking at Dodge's new 1500 with a V.6. Diesels.
I love my 3500 quad can 5.9 ram diesel.  Don't plan to ever go back to gas.

I went from a full size Silverado to a Tacoma. Miss the Silverado, but for daily driving I like the Tacoma much better. Very easy to get around in town and on old over grown logging roads.
Soon as the snow and ice hit the ground I did not care to drive a full size truck around, Tacoma does much better in the slick stuff.

When I was looking I wanted a Tacoma . Too pricey. Now walk across the street and look at Nissan Frontier.
I am now on my secound Frontier and have had nothing but excellent. And when I go hunting I take a load.
Cabs are bigger too.

I'm looking for more room in cab so it will be a quad cab no matter what...I don't want a long bed....that's where I'm torn....I like the Toyota for the smaller logging roads and turn radius...but the full size for the room  :chuckle: I may just have to search for a good deal on a Tacoma quad cab...almost everyone I have found in my price range has had 170k + miles on it
