That's how I did it in 2013, a trailer with all my gear, a freezer and a generator, it worked well, but I was well over $1250.

We are having a little disconnect on the thread though, the original poster is asking about float trips, that is a whole new issue with big cost.

There are very few places you can launch and end a float trip off a road system, and where you can its SUPER crowded.

Then there are more places where you can get dropped off by a plane and float out to a road, also can be very crowded.

Then the fly in- float and fly out scenario......definitely the least crowded but the most expensive.

Transportation in AK is without a doubt, the biggest cost.

Thanks guys what I'm seeing is around 4000 to 5500 for the float trip plus the drive up can't wait for Sept 1 2016. I will be taking the month of September off and we are planning on a full 2 week float. If time allows a halibut trip or two on the tail end of the trip.

At least fuel prices are way down compared to recent years. Might want to tie up a few barrels.  :chuckle:

I did it this year for around $3500. We roughed it though.

Here is a hunt recap from 2 years ago,
I didn't do a budget (said I would and forgot) The total for the month was about $13K
It was hard to put a price on this one as I counted the gear I bought and I was up there for a full month including drive time. I didn't split for fuel with anyone because my partners flew in from other states. My wife and I did a lot of tourist stuff and a few nights in hotels.

The killer on this one was the $4200 per person for the bush planes, and yes that was the going rate for the 3 different pilots I contacted   :yike:

By comparison here is what  I figure is an economy moose hunt. My buddy owns a 172 on floats and the truck we used,so I bought the fuel.  You guys that are doing it cheaper.....
