Resting ducks

I keep kicking up resting mallards on my walk into where I've been hunting. They are always sitting on some sheet water just off the pathway. My question is, are they getting there in the evening time and staying the night? Might not be a bad spot to throw a half dozen decoys out in the evening to try to get them before shooting light ends.

If that's their roost and you shoot them off of there they are gone....

I wouldn't worry about it being a roost... it's just sheet water. Yes, hunt it late afternoon.

Don't forget, shooting ends at sunset for ducks, not 1/2 hour after.
