Which bow?
« on: February 01, 2015, 06:46:22 PM »
So I'm pretty sure people ask this question all the time but I'm going to ask anyways.
There's a 21 out of 25 chance I move back to the east coast this summer(probally, ky, tn, fl or la) and I will have the chance to start bow hunting again. I havnt bow hunted since 2004. Which bows should I look at? Arrows? Etc.. I will be mainly hunting whitetail from a stand and probally turkeys and pigs at some point.

My budget for everything will be 1k since that's what I lined up to sell my 300wm for it I move.

What would you get if you had that budget, bow, sight, rest, arrows, broad heads, stabilizer etc.

Thanks

Look at a used Elite E32 or E35. You can get them for around $600 for a year old bow and has a lifetime transfereable warranty. Besides that they shoot incredible! Also that'll give you $400 to spend on accessories.

Did the AK post fall through? Definately keep your eye on Archery Talk for used equipment. Choose an arrow that you can find about anywhere, this may be different in the areas you listed but Gold Tip Hunter series has been around for awhile as has the Easton Axis series. Montana Black Gold makes great durable sights and QAD is probably one of the best drop away arrow rests. All of these can be found on AT for cheap. Stabilizers I would just get a Limbsaver S-coil and as far as quiver an Alpine or Trophy ridge is great for a budget quiver or spend the extra and look at Tight Spot. Hope this helps and good luck with your move!

Thanks, I'll take a look. Alaska didn't fall through completely but only 3 jobs were open up there when I thought there'd be 6 or 7

I got a hoyt charger two years ago, 500 bucks. Short compact good for hunting, can get some good accessories. I did have a problem with the string I dont know if they fixed that but i have a black gold sight. Personally I think the most important thing is the rest so get thats the thing you dont want to cheap out on, cant be accurate without good arrow flight.

Another vote for Elite. Find them used on AT for $500-600 all day. With a transferable lifetime warranty you can't go wrong. If hunting from a stand, definitely get the E32.

That's a steal.  I'm gonna add the tight spot today to the set up.  Then I need a good cheap press to start making adjustments for myself.  I hate going to a shop to get the peep fixed.
