Always Wanted A Big Bore....Not Sure Why
« on: December 26, 2014, 10:21:27 AM »
But it's on it's way and it's pretty, and big (as in .458 Win Mag.).  It also comes in handy just case I ever go to Africa...lol.  :chuckle:

That is big, hope you find something to use it on.

My wallet hurts just thinking of buying ammo.

And congrats to your orthopedist on his future vacation after rebuilding your shoulder.

 Looks great!
I'm the same, just had to have one and I never shoot it.

Which model 70 is that? It looks like a classic express with a super grade butt pad.

I have a .450 Ackley reamer if you want to spice it up a little :chuckle:

And I recommend Dr Winston Warme at UW for any future shoulder issues...... He did a great job on mine :chuckle:

It's one of the new FN (South Carolina Model 70's)....Cabelas Ltd. Edition Model 70 Super Grade...2011 I believe.  I have a few FN's and love em.

I was looking at 470ne's a few years back but then I came to my senses as I don't see Africa in my 10 year plan.  :chuckle:  Oh but I sure love the big bores.
I have a friend that used a 458 win to hunt elk with on west side for years. He's a little older now and figured to give his shoulder a break so he switched to a 375 hh. :chuckle:

A group of us were near Las Vegas, shooting at a dry lake. One of the guys brought his .458 Win. Mag. and enough ammo that anybody who dared, could fire it once. This is a very short video of a buddy of mine who tried it. He is 6'4" and 280+ lbs. He kinda hammed it up a bit, but the recoil speaks for itself.

With a shooting form like that. A .300 Win mag would have probably resulted in the same rearward step.

A .450 Ackley or .450 Ultra would have flat leveled the guy. :chuckle:
