Mathews htr no cam?
« on: December 03, 2014, 07:06:53 AM »
Hey guys in the market for a new bow. I like the new hoyt nitrum and heard that
Primes are really good as well. But then I saw the Mathews htr no cam and was instantly intreaged. I'm by no means interested in speed bows I just want a solid hunting bow. I was wondering people's thoughts on this bow. Does anyone own one yet? Has anyone shot one? Not looking for name brand bashing please open to all opinions on new bows as well.  I'm not partial as long as it's a solid shooter! Thanks
If its brown its down... or black... well if it has four legs.. or webbed feet... or fins... ok, ok if its edible!

I know you're not worried about speed but when looking at the no cam realize their advertised speeds are at 65% let off so it's slower than you might think at 80%. I have not shot one personally but my nephew thought it was really smooth, quiet and shock free.

4.3lbs
330fps @65%
325 @75%
320 @85%
6 5/8 brace
$999
Extremely quiet, completely dead when shot, very smooth easy draw, and tunes well. I think they look really good, especially in person. But..........

The cables have a plastic sleeve on them because yes, they do rub the cam. That is a deal breaker for me. Considering this is a brand new cam system I would wait a year to see how it works out and if any issues arise. Then if you really like it you could buy the 2nd generation that has all the bugs/flaws worked out.

It's really a shame too.  That crossover system is not needed.  So many options and that is what they came up with :dunno:  I'm a little disappointed in that.  I thought we determined that system sucked when Bowtech did it   Other than that and the subpar speed for dollar spent it should be a good bow.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

I bled Mathews for years .In my opinion they started making crap bows with a Mathews price tag 4 years ago.I shoot alot of bows and I think there new No Cam is the best bow in a few years from Mathews.I can tell you its quite and very smooth and very balanced. I wouldn't trade my CS ZT Turbo but it would be a close #2 for me.
