Grey area here. If you plan on ever building into a pistol, state it as such. If only and always a rifle, no worry. You can, as some would say, register it as a handgun, you can always build it into either a handgun or a rifle. Once it is built into a rifle from "registering" It as a rifle, it can not be" legally" built into a handgun..hence, the grey area...who will ever know?
It may have been done in the "other" category, maybe they meant the ffl just couldn't be done as a "long gun". I think I will call tomorrow to find out though.

That's why they have the "other category for stripped receivers" That way it does not matter what you build it into. That is why most ffl's will always do them as "other" that way it can be built into what ever the client wants.If it is done as a pistol then the registration forum is sent in and registered as a handgun. If it's done as other or rifle. Then it is just like any other long gun, 4473 is saved by the ffl and nothing is sent in like we do on handguns.
