I will probably make a stand or two in the morning. Just remember that pretty much every coyote in the country has been called to atleast once this year, so you might need to 'think out of the box' a little to get one to come and take a look.

Thanks for the tip on that no luck today Iam going out again Friday and Saturday I had them talking back to me but they just wouldn't come in like u said they are probably educated any idea on how to change it up on them I have killed three since October but those were not called in Iam having a tuff time calling them in to me Iam near Wenatchee there is snow where I have been calling and tons of sign

What is the best way to start a stand this time of year howls my or distress gonna be going out in the morning and trying to figure out how to change it up I keep getting them to talk back but they don't come in Iam by no means an expert and don't use hand calls much but Iam thinking that I may try them and try to howl more maybe that will be different than the old rabbit distress they have heard over and over thanks for any advice u guys give

Your on the right track,If your not familiar with howling stay away . If you do howl its almost certain that you must be in the coyotes CORE area to get a walk in response. call quietly, and less frequent, Stay longer on your set.If you do use howls do it sparingly, Most coyotes i have howled in have not answered back before showing up, Most howled in coyotes will come in down wind or trying to get down wind to smell before approach .Good luck, Jerry

The most important thing I've found with my coyote hunting is to ALWAYS watch downwind, and setup where you have visibility downwind. Howls are my go-to method since most people shy away from using them, and I'm quite successful with them this time of year. Any responses that consist of barks followed by a howl are bad, basically the coyote is saying he's already busted you!
Using magpie and crow sounds is good this time of year also and especially with this cold weather, since the yotes are looking for a freebie meal.

These tips r very helpful I appreciate it i also feel like I struggle some with stand locations the area Iam hunting has both steep and some flat areas the flatter areas are not bad to figure out but the steep terrain makes it hard to watch all the areas they could come from especially your downwind only way to learn is be out there and thanks for the help I will try some bird distress tomorrow is there any DVDs that u guys could suggest to learn howls or is there a different way to figure that out want to learn some more tactics to get them in

I think Randy Anderson does alot of howling on his videos, but it has been awhile since i've seen one. He used to have one that came with one of his calls (Mastering the Art?) that actually had a few good pointers for a beginer.

I have some of randy videos I will see what I can find thanks for input I missed one today once at about 80 and once at about 250 on a dead run whoops lol I did see some nice Bulls and a lot of deer so made the day worth while but wish I could run into more yotes I see sign everywhere so I gues I will keep tweaking things till I get them coming in
