You are spot on Scott. Keep things as real as you can, the numbness, shock, and disbelief are protecting you. Remember you will need/place to grieve. It is a very important part of the process. Be ready for the grieving process to hit those around you at different times as well. Like I said earlier I was at the house before the sheriff and got to hold my Dad's hand and have a few minutes with him as did my Mom and siblings before they pronouced him gone. Seeing him may not be what it takes to allow you to realize what has happened. Just try to be ready to deal with the next step when it hits you. Hang in there you know you got a place to share and vent if needed.

It's not easy too but he loved hunting and everyone on this forum shares the same passion as he did. This forum is like one big hunting family. Making it easier for me to express myself and feelings.

Sorry for your loss. I just lost my dad back in march. It was weird hunting without him this late season. Time takes away the pain, but memories last forever.

Chin up man prayers sent. what an awfull thing to have to go through.  :'(
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

Sad to hear. Hang in there. Remember the good times and try and laugh. It helps. And dont try and make any sense of it, some things in life you just cant figure out. My dad passed in 06, completley unexpected and way to young, so I kind of know where your at.

He may be gone but he will always be with you.

Scott, I'm really sorry for your loss.

I'm also really impressed and thankful you shared what you're going thru. I've been where you are 5 1/2 years ago and your story brought back tears and pain like it happened yesterday. I wanted to share something I learned while dealing with grief. I read somewhere that when a son looses his father it is the second worst loss you can suffer. The first being the loss of a child. It sounds like your dad was a great dad and that makes the pain even worse. It also justifies every tear, scream, fist thru a wall, stare into space for hours, feeling numb, and any other way you deal with grief.

I can only recommend that you reach out to loved ones and lean on them. Keep talking. Share stories with relatives or friends. It helps. Sometimes isolation is helpful but remember to reach out to those who are hurting from this too. Helping them can help you.

Again I'm sorry for your loss and I'll be praying for you.

Knees I recieved today is he should be arriving at seatac airport tomorrow evening at 5:09 pm. The few days seem to be getting a little bit better. Less tears and more smiles talking about old memories with the younger siblings. It's tough not to be stressed when it seems like everyone wants more and more money. And we haven't even been able to plan the funeral yet. It's unbelievable how expensive a funeral can be. We are having a breakfast banquet at the Eagles in Wilkeson wa, Saturday morning 7-11. There will be biscuits and gravy, eggs and pancakes. Meals are 10$ a person. There is also going to be raffles going on. We are hoping to raise some money to help out with funeral arrangements and what not. Any one is welcome!!
