Might be my last deer of the season
« on: January 02, 2015, 12:03:24 PM »
Shot a little sow the other night but no good pictures. Tonight about an hour before dark a doe and fawn came out on a regular crossing point and I didn't let the fawn get accross. 152m shot and she only made it as far as she slid in the snow.

I don't know why it's upside down sometimes.

Pretty sure he's not hunting in the state, or even in the U.S. Maybe that's the rules where he hunts? Maybe he wanted some tender viddles - not sure, but it's still hunting.

Thanks Steve, I am currently hunting Germany. We harvest deer from each age group of both sexes to ensure a very healthy herd. It is very effective as the hunting here tends to be much better than the states despite deer season being 9 months long without tags or bag limits. A hunters paradise really. I guess from that angle, it does kinda look like a whitetail fawn.

Rehwild does have more of a triangular shaped head than other deer. It is more pronounced when they are older.

Not over there!!!! A lot more complicated than you think. My son in law and daughter were over there for a long time. If you want to move just to hunt......think about Kentucky, its alot closer to home and some great whitetail hunting...Just my :twocents:

There are 4 types of deer commonly found in Germany. Roh deer, red stag, fallow deer and sikka deer.  Getting hunting access isn't nearly as hard as many Americans make it out yo be.  It's almost like part of the in processing to Europe is to mislead you with lies and BS opinions.  There is a short class which covers all the traditions, history, firearms, biology, laws and many other things which culminates in a Knighting ceremony where the hunter is Knighted as a protector of the game and forest.  I have almost come to respect the misleading lies about the difficulty hunting in Germany because it weeds out the un passionate. I used to try to convince everyone about the blessing that is hunting Germany but now I let it slide. If you don't want it bad enough to even look into it, then you aren't passionate enough to be the kind of hunter I want with me.  If there were twice as many requirements it would still be completely worth it. There are years when I'm shooting 20+ deer not to mention almost as many foxes and a few boar plus the occasional trip to a neighboring country for a mountain goat hunt in the alps.

I think having the family switch to an ipad has really limited my postings. I've got a couple of real doozy hunts I haven't posted this year because the typing would be so slow.

GSP prolly already saw this but here is an example of a pretty good day.

Hunting and fishing in germany/ europe is crazy expensive. If you think the fees here are bad, you will $1000-$2000 and you may not get to keep what you get. The farmer can claim it if they want it.
