I thought it was a very good presentation, but I wouldn't expect anything less from Dr. Martorello.

The Dr. is fulla you know what. I know for a fact they don't go and investigate public sightings. They didn't when I sent them wolf tracks pictures from 6 years ago. I sent the biologist in Colville, the pictures, that I gave the Game Warden from Ferry County. The bio called me, asked a few questions if they were on public or private land to put up game cameras. He said the WDFW would put up cameras, ONLY IF IT WAS ON PRIVATE LAND. That was his exact answer, since I told them it was on STATE LAND. That was the end of our conversation.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

Heard this all before,  At a IST for Hunter Ed Instructor's couple of years ago :bash:  Only it took the guy hours to present the BS to us in attendance!!   They condensed it down to 21 minutes  :o

Sounds like a Jay Enslee suck up to me!!

Probably drives a Subaru with a "Coexist" bumper sticker  :chuckle:

IF they plan to "manage Prey species" they are going to need a "season" on Wolves! :yike:

Their track record in this state leaves a lot to be desired!!!
The only good tree, is a stump!

I don't see how they didn't investigate?  Seems like they did follow up with you...and I understand not wanting to put cameras up on public land...there are a dozen "stolen trail cam" threads on this forum.   :dunno:

I can tell you the opposite so who the heck knows what they do. Different biologists do different things I guess. Myself or my family have called multiple times and gotten positive responses every time.  Not interested in getting into a debate, just saying what I've experienced. The only thing I can come up with is that different biologists treat these calls differently.

I am not sure how Washington is comparable to Idaho, Montana and Wyoming in anything?  Why do we need as many packs or breeding pairs as those states?  Also it appears that they are hoping that Wolves somehow show up in the Olympics.  Is that a good idea really?  They didn't talk much on wolf diseases that are being transmitting through other wolves or ungulates?  I am guessing the overall public opinion is that wolves are good, but I am not convinced they are good for Washington.  If you thought hunting was tough before, it's only going to get worse.

I think it could definitely be some of that.

Im not sure what the OP intended here...if the intent was to diminish the reputation of WDFW or try to suggest an inappropriate link between WDFW and CNW he picked the wrong guy.  My limited interactions with Martorello lead me to believe he is a very knowledgeable, trustworthy individual who cares about the resource and cares about the future of hunting.  He is a hunter and he is from Idaho so maybe I'm a little biased  :dunno: :chuckle:  Frankly, some of the higher ups in WDFW, i.e., the commissioners, are who deserve some negative attention on some of these issues.  Martorello is one of us...and I'm thrilled he is where he is at...not a chance I'm sure at this point in his career but I would be elated if he were the next director.

My point was, the WDFW was so interested in investigating ALL wolf sightings etc, and this bio didn't do squat, because they would actually have to do some work for a living for a problem THEY started. Don't forget, these GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES are supposed to WORK FOR US. We pay THEIR salaries, period. Really seems strange that people who don't even live within 300 miles of the problem in the NE problem areas, get all the answers, strange to me.

That's all I'll say on this, because it's true.

Not sure if you're referring to me here or not, but what I referred to didn't even happen in the NE.

Most of us understood what you meant Campmeat,

Surely WDFW will improve from last year where they added one wolf??? :chuckle: I sure wouldn't be doing a whole lot of bragging on how hard WDFW work at confirming wolf sightings, they do however know how to hand out the doe permits. WDFW didn't make a lot of points with that stupid move.

We have wolves in the Northeast?  Seriously!! I thought they were only in the Teanaway!! Seems to be the most interest.
