Any auto painters out there??
« on: December 30, 2008, 12:06:05 PM »
I have had my Jeep CJ5 torn down for a couple of years now. Its just about all ready for paint. I'm not intimidated (well maybe a little  ;) )to paint it myself since I have all the equipment, just not the time I guess. Anyway, its all taken down to bare metal and all the parts are separated. The tub, fenders, hood, tailgate and windshield frame are all there is. The inside is Rhino Lined and the vast majority of the little body work that is needed is done. Ive been a custom cabinet builder for the last ten years working under my dad in his shop who has been doing it for over twenty five years. In other words, I like to do trade deals :chuckle: If anyone is interested or has some painting tips they would like to share that would be great. Also, its a jeep not a Ferrari so Im not looking for a big fancy paint job. Most likely a single stage paint so it is easier to repair if I ding it up wheelin. Im also liking the looks of Hummer Orange. Also, we have a website now (Still needs some work  :chuckle: ) for you guys that might want to see a little of our work.

Thanks!

I don't need cabinets, but I've done a few paint jobs. I was a rebuilder for 10 years, did a couple hundred partial or full paint jobs. Both single stage and base clear. I'm a little rusty, as I've been out almost a year now, but I 'spose it'd come back to me! I'd need a place to do the job, as I've converted my other shop to a mechanical/steel shop... Let me know....

I appreciate the offer Rainshadow. I have a couple friends close by that can paint. I was hoping I might stumble across someone who had a shop where I could dump it off.  I'll most likely do it myself, Ive sprayed lots of stain, lacquer and paint on cabinets but Ive never dabbled with auto paint. Some guys Ive talked to that have painted their own rigs make it sound like not that big of a deal to do yourself. I just thought I might try a trade offer first though.

Jeepasauras and BL. I'll try to scramble a few pics up of my build within the next couple of days and post.
BL, I'll PM you our web address.
