YN Public Spring Turkey Hunts Now Available!!!
« on: January 08, 2015, 01:20:29 PM »
Looks like the Yakama Nation will be offering a few turkey hunts this Spring! See:  http://www.ynwildlife.org/Turkeyhunting.php for details. Here's your chance to hunt Rio Grande and Merriams turkeys in a private setting at a reasonable price. Have thousands of acres all to yourself for 2 weeks! The hunts will be offered by raffle drawing with a $250 permit fee when you draw. Head down to the Wildlife office in Toppenish to pick up your raffle tickets.

These permits will allow the harvest of 1 Gobbler or bearded turkey within the cottonwood bottoms of the Reservation adjacent to the Yakima River. Hunters will be able to access tribal hunting lands without worry of other hunters. If you are interested in this unique and novel opportunity to hunt a spring turkey come down and purchase your raffle tickets today.
I wonder how they plan on keeping the hunting to yourself.

there is only 3 availible tags and they are for different time periods. I believe each tag has a 15 day season.

This post was from last year,  my buddy had the tag.   First person drawn gets to choose his season.  Once that person tags out the next hunter can start and had 15 days from the day he starts hunting.   No news on this years hunt yet

How did your buddy do? were there lots of birds around? What township are they by if your hunting by the river? Ive seen a couple by Zillah, wondering if they were escapees from their birds.

he shot a nice Tom,  plenty of birds,  but very quiet.   Thick brushy edges and lots of predators.
