Pelts with Mold? What to do?
« on: January 11, 2015, 08:10:35 PM »
I had to put some of my pelts in some not so optimum conditions for awhile and durring this time two of my pelts on the stretchers developed mold. It can be wiped off kinda but Im wondering if there's anything I can do to clean it all off safely or are they pretty much trash?
The mold is on the flesh side.

cotton balls and rubbing alcohol, DO NOT soak the pelt, just rub the alcohol on with the cotton balls. It will clean the mold off and be dry in less then a minute.

I had the same problem  with some muskrats. Talked to a fur buyer from NewYork and he said to take a rag and wipe them down using the cleaning  agent 409.Not to worry  about the pelts.
