rossi ranch hand

Alright guys, what do you think of the rossi ranch hand? I've had a few oppertunities to buy one, but every time I change my mind and get something else... but for some reason I keep finding myself oogling it wishing I had one. I'm a lever gun fan, and love my Winchesters and savages, which might partially explain why I keep coming back to this toy. Let's face it, its more of a novelty gun than a practical pistol... or is it? Its the right size to have as a jeep gun, comes in some versatile calibers, (38/357, 45lc, 44mag) and from what I can tell is built with a rifle receiver so I am assuming it can handle some larger loads, (unless big bore pistol and pistol cartridge shooting rifles have chamber pressures that differ) I envision the practical function of this gun being a good jeep/camp gun, a good get-the-heck-offamuh-porch tool and a plinker, and maybe a critter gitter.  Its not something I'd load with buffalo bores and take with me tromping through the bushes when I'm in Alaska, I have a shotgun and bear spray for that, but the ranch hand seems to be up to the task as a perfect Northwest truck gun.... haven't totally made up my mind but would like to hear what you guys say

The actions are bomb proof I know a guy that hunts 45-70 with his Rossi lever gun. Ranch hand is not my thing but  a carbine would be more my style. Still small and very nimble. I get it in whatever kind of caliber your packing in a pistol.

They're kind of halfway between a large pistol and a super small lever action rifle, a unique gun for sure. 

They're chambered for pistol cartridges only as far as I know.  Now if they came in 45/70 that would be pretty cool but if I'm carrying .357, 45lc, or 44mag then a Blackhawk or Redhawk would be a lot easier to strap on and walk around with.

On the other hand  if you want to play Steve McQueen in the old Wanted: Dead or Alive show then the ranch hand would be perfect!

Buddy thought it looked cool and bought one. 
Hardly used or carried it, found it sitting in safe, and got rid of it.

I shot it once, did not like the way it shot and handed it back to him after only shooting 3 bullets.


Find someone that has one and likes it and will let you try it before you but one.

Hey gasman, what call did you shoot? I bet this thing is miserable with a hot 44mag load...  I have a super Blackhawk 44 mag, am thinking more than likely I'll get a Redhawk 357.... I like the idea of this ranch hand in 38/357 as it would be lighter recoil and more of a fun plinker....... yeah maybe one of the ranges has a rental I might try........

Aye Pedro!! You should get one to have in your boat for when you get that huge halibut but by the time you needed it the barrel would be rusted shut. Never mind. Bwahahahahaaaa!!!!

It was a 44. Like I said, try before you buy.

Man Larry, every time I turn around you busting my chops, you wait I will get back at you. I'm gonna follow you around during hali season and steel your chickens you catch and may be drift something special under your dig when you actually catch a hali.
