This an 18 10/16 net, 6.5' P&Y bear I killed in 1999 down in Shasta Co, CA. Because of it's chocolate color, I had the felt done in brown and glad I did. I'm not kean on the contrasting colors of the wall paint color and the animal's hair.
May the morning silence be broken with the wisp of vanes trailing blades to their mark.

Here is my bear that I shot in 04. Got it up in Alpine Lakes Wilderness. We were up deer hunting and found this one out flatfooted and stupid in a berry feild. 70 yard shot with the old 7MM and down it went!

Here is my '07 bear.  I didn't make either of my '08 bears into a rug... too much money.

There sure are some dandy (BIG) black bear rugs on this thread. This one squared right at 7'1/4" green. I like my life size bear mounts, but I think for me if you are fortunate enough to harvest a 7 foot plus bear, there is nothing that shows off their size like a rug. When I harvested this one (Canada, B.C.) I was lucky and shot another one almost the exact same size (also right at 7'1/4") two days later. I had one rugged and the other I had mounted life size. There is such a big difference in how they look size wise. Yet they were almost twins.

Here is a photo of me with the rug from my biggest bear. I shot it on May 19th of 2001 in the Wenaha Tucannon Wilderness with a Barnes 140X bullet from my 7mm Rem Mag. The shot was 150 yards and the bear was quartering away. The bullet busted the bear's off side shoulder and the bear dropped and was immobilized but was still alive when I got up to him. I gave him a finisher from 5 feet away after he turned his head and looked at me. I was a pretty intense moment. This bear weighed close to 400#. Just his 4 legs weighed 120# (no hide and minus the feet). He squared 6' 10" and had a 20" skull.

And here is a photo of the bear before the butchering began
