BACK FROM WY

What a trip first let’s start at my first post on this 6 mts ago I put in for my WA cow elk quality buck tags and the booked a trip with triple 333 outfitters in WY thinking I would not draw any tags in WA with no points and guess what, I drew all my tags and then it all started. I went to the upper smith creek where I drew my tag and got my cow elk tag and filled it one day. And that was a fast trip because then I was off to WY to hunt for my first mule deer and antelope the next week.
On the first day of A 5 day of a 5 day trip after driving 14 hours, Myself and one more hunter headed out with the outfitter and I was first up. We drove and did some spotting from the truck and seen so many deer on his 200,000 acre lease , the most l everer seen in one day. After 2 or 3 hours we spotted a nice buck over a ridge and made a decision to go for it and we where off and after hiking over 3 ridges and not trying to be on the sky line and sweating my ass off and taking a lot of brakes we got within 400 yards and seen that there was 2 nice bucks there a big 25”3x4 with brow tines and a smaller 16”4x4 buck with a drop tine the 4x4 buck was just too young and small so I tried to get set up on the bigger buck but with the sun hitting me in the face and with him laying down it just did not happen and they took off. So we went back to camp and decided to make one more stalk after lunch and then after hiking back in the magic happened standing broad side @348 yards I made the shoot with the SAKO 7mm &Burris elimator lll and he made 3 steps a dropped. My first mule deer is dead. The next day I took off due to bad leg cramps so then on Wednesday I got my 14.5 inch Antelope Buck and 2 does then 14 hr drive home on Friday. Now back to work for two weeks then I’m off to hunt the POUGE unit in eastern WA for my whitetail buck in the rut Nov 15

I'll be leaveing for Omak on friday to hunt that night and the weekend and will be meeting up with Jerrod gibbons from Oakanogen Valley Outfitters,He has not told me where in the Pouge unit we will be but i bet its a tree stand over appels. I have been told he has some tail cam pics of a nice 140 to150 class buck. If im lucky I will post some pics next week at some time. I still cant get over drawing this rut hunt with only one piont.

Good hunt thanks for the pics and write up. With a Pogue tag a person sould be able to get into some 170 class bucks with some work. Good luck on you hunt.
