Wall Tent Security

A wall tent purchase is in my future soon.
Seems like we hear about a stolen wall tent every year. After all they, for the most part all look alike. And are worth big money.

Wondering if anyone has come up with a means to mark or tag their tent in any way. For identification.

Or had some special feature added that sets their tent apart from all other???

I know a guy that had a brown canvas door put in just to set his tent apart.

Wonder if you could micro chip a tent like a pet??? Or maybe some kind of stencil design on the tent that could not be altered easily.

Any ideas?? Or something you have seen??

write your name on it with something like silicone or a clear acrylic.  Looks like the same tent, but if you splash it with water your name can be read.

How about stencil "Ghost Camp" on the side of it, would make it easy to identify if anyone else used it.

The problem with the silicon idea is that it only helps AFTER it gets stolen. Something visible to the thieves might prevent it getting stolen in the first place.

Leave the tent , stake it out and beat the thieving *censored*s arse who try to take it !

Tat that thing up with some permanent markers. Write your initials in the middle of each panel. You can also go cave man in your free time back at camp and draw pictures of deer and elk

I made a stencil and used a permenant marker and over the door in 3in. Letters reads MightyWhite.....the way I feel when I start to set it up...not how I feel afterwards...16x20...a Whole lot of canvas!

Got a buddy who uses a sharpie to record each years kills on the inside of the tent.  It's actually a pretty cool way of keeping record of who killed what, the date, how far etc.

After 25 years, there's some pretty cool history on that tent.

Trail cams for me too.

I also will leave a fire dampened down and a rig in camp.  We will sometime leave the door open.  Anything to make it look like someone is home.  You have to have big clankers to steal a camp when you think someone is close.

I was just wondering if someone got away with a tent if there were good ideas for beable to track them down or pick them out of a crowd.

I thought of maybe hiding a Spot Tracker in one. Like behind the window zipper. Someone in a hurry to take it down miight not see that.

Don't do that....that is just another hundred dollars you would lose.  Dig a pungie stick trap under your cot so when they move it to steal the tent they leave plenty of DNA.

Yeah we do a lot of things in our camp.
Leave radio going.
Lights on if we go to town after dark.
RIgs around.

We use to have a dummy we called Elmer stuffed with straw and some of my old clothers with a orange vest on. We would put him in a lawn chair near the campfire. From the road looked like a hunter sitting there. We had folks come into camp one time and ask him for directions.

They do make a small credit card sized tracking device that links to your phone/computer I believe that you could use...Il try an find a link

I think a game camera just below our camp to snag vehicle identity is going to be a must next year...the tent is the last of my worries !!

Go to the arts and crafts store and by glow in the dark paste. Write some thing with it. It's permanent and you can see it after lights out.

Oh here's an idea...

Just take the old lady and kids, go out hunting, and leave them behind to play house in the tent. If somebody steals the tent, old lady and kids, well, sounds like a good hunting trip to me

Yep, and then when somebody took the lost tent to the Animal Shelter, they'd know where the little fella came from.

Sorry, had to laugh when I read it.  Micro Chips are just like a collar, they don't give off a signal

Not brave enogh to leave my camp setup and waiting til next weekend to move in for the season.
Alot of folks do though.

Dad had camp robbers throw the flaps open when he was there..... he slept in.
They just said sorry wrong camp and turned back to their truck that they left running at the road.

I have an IR alarm, runs on 9v and requires a four digit code within 30 seconds of activation. It chirps letting folks know they tripped it and is very loud if allowed to go off.
It's small enough that it can be hid inside or wherever you place it.

I like the idea of having the woods and solitude loving retired guy staying in camp til we would get there (hope I live long enough to be that guy).

I hear of walltents stolen in our area and have hunting neighbors tell me they are setting up the weekend before? Not worth it.

My son was gonna go camp out for a few days for someone so they could leave camp they ended up with someone else showing up, but that was a creative solution borrow a body for camp watch. 

I keep thinking a security woods espresso delivery business might be lucrative show up at o dark thirty with hot coffees and then for a few tips spend the day cruising looking for creepers and chasing them off.  I love chasing off creepy people.

I got my wall tent at a killer price and I set it up in the yard.

Some of the things I did to make it mine are........

I colored coded all the frame parts with different colored electrical tape, to aid in set up when I have someone else helping me.  If the bad guys want to peal it off it will take some time.

I stuck Ghost camp cards down all the leg tubes.

I pealed back the smoke stack hole and wrote my name in sharpie on the grey fire material. Than covered it back up.

On the rig gusset rear of tent I wrote my name in Shappie.

Back in the day when we use to set up or deer cook shack and be gone at night to town we left a red blinking light in it. From the road looke liked the flicker of a fire.

Never had anyone bother our camp in 40 years. But i guess there is always a first time.
