Draw length change messed both arrow flight?
« on: January 24, 2015, 06:06:51 PM »
Hello everyone I hope you all had a very safe and enjoyable Holliday AND hunting season.

I was finally able to get my draw length adjusted on my Parker Brothers Buck Hunter compound today and my arrows are suddenly way off of my sight pins. Does adjusting the draw length mess with arrow flight or something? Or is it me? If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it, I could easily bring it into Sportsmen's Warehouse but I'm hoping it's a much simpler solution. Any and all help is appreciated!

Specs:

Draw length: 31"
Draw weight: 65lbs
Arrow spine: 400 with 100gr tips

Changing anything can affect impact point.  Are your arrows still grouping just in a new location?  If so just move your sights.  If your arrows used to group well and now they are all over the place you could have bigger issues.

Paper tune it.  Also, measure the distance from your riser where the limbs meet it to the string.  Make sure it is the same.  You can tighten or loosen the limb bolt to get them to match.  I had adjusted the draw weight, thinking that I turned both bolts the same amount but the distance was slightly off.  I fixed that and was able to tune it more easily.

Thanks guys I will see what I can do, also I should've mentioned why my arrows are doing now

They are way low, they are grouping a little farther than they were but they are around 8" low

It would seem to me that if you lengthened the draw length that would place your peep closer to your eye and slightly lower due to the angle of the string which would make you naturally aim lower to compensate and line things up.  I'm assuming you lengthened it to get to 31"?

Suggestion from another forum is to draw with eyes closed to your natural anchor.  Get good and comfortable and then open your eyes.  You will probably find that your peep is no longer lined up correctly.  It will likely need adjustment.

Typically with a single cam adjustable draw length bow when you adjust the draw length it messes with your nock height/travel. My bet is when you draw back your arrow is now aiming downwards and is probably aiming downwards when not drawn back but nocked and arrow rest up (if you have a fall away). Make sure your arrow gets squared back up by adjusting the nock (preferable) or adjusting the arrow rest.

It would appear that you're under spined with 400 spine shafts @ 65# and 31" draw length. Switch to 340 spine shafts and re sight your bow.
