Coyote with trail cam
« on: January 24, 2015, 06:27:03 PM »
I've had bait set up with two cameras on it for about 6 weeks now. Had a coyote come by once in the first couple days, but nothing since. They were scared of the red glow from the infrared flash on one of the cameras, the one I had set to take 30 second videos. They finally got hungry enough, or maybe just used to the light, and started coming around. I only got one video uploaded to Photobucket so far, but I'll try to post a few more later.

This spot was really intended for bobcats. I was hoping one would start coming around regularly, and then I was going to set up a cage trap and try to catch it. I had two bobcats at this spot two years ago. But so far none this winter.

There's actually still some bait there, covered up with grass and tied to those small logs.

Here are a few of the pictures from the other camera. It's a Moultrie L50 (white flash).

Looks like time to fill those yotes with lead instead of just feeding them. 8)

It's a tough place to try hunting coyotes. Probably the only way to do it would be to use a tree stand. Unfortunately, I'm not feeling that ambitious.

A couple more videos:

Tree stand hunting is great for hunting over bait. Could be fun with a bow or shotgun

Maybe use porcupines as bait bobcat! This coyote was either trying to kill this porcupine or just play with it. He ended up giving up and the porcupine played dead for about an hour.

That's cool, too bad you don't have video of that! I've gotten lots of pictures of porcupines with deer, and raccoons, but never with coyotes.
