HB 1056 Here is another trying to restrict our wild land access

I think there could be many implications for sportsmen.
House Bill 1056:
AN ACT Relating to restricting the use of certain parcels of public land to access a public body of water; adding a new section to chapter 79.02 RCW; and prescribing penalties.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 79.025RCW to read as follows:
(1) If a parcel of public land is one-quarter of a square mile or less in size and is adjacent to a body of public water and the land is or can be used to access the body of public water, the governmental entity which has jurisdiction of the land must provide adequate public parking for persons utilizing the land to access the water.
(2) If adequate public parking is not provided, using the land to access the water for other than a governmental purpose is prohibited. If adequate public parking is not provided, the governmental entity which has jurisdiction of the land must post a warning sign for the public that clearly shows that using the land to access the water is prohibited and states the sanction for a violation of the prohibition.
(3) A violation of this section is a misdemeanor.

That's a garbage law!
What if someone drops you off so you don't have to park on the road side edge.

This sounds very bad, most agencies do not have extra money to be installing approved parking lots and would be forced to close lands to access.

Could I say that hunters have been shafted by the wonderful people who work for us and now they're going after the water people ?

Representative Haler (R) proposed his bill last year. Supposedly his constituents asked for some type of law.

I saw they were talking about this on the news, it appears that other groups are speaking out against this one.

I think this is a rather overreaching bill that is an attempt to alleviate parking problems on Lake Washington and some spots on the sound. There are several spots on Lake Washington that have very narrow strips of public land but no parking. People park up and down the street in front of private residences to get to the lake and the neighbors hate it. There are also some of the same problems in areas on the sound. This bill is probably being pushed by those people who want to keep the public off of what they consider their own private beaches with little consideration of how this bill could effect access outside of their immediate domain. It's a bad bill, but has some wealthy backers.
