While we're in socks, I bought 3 pair of the new KUIU. Not happy at all. Sock doesn't fit properly even though it's the right size. Immediately after putting on, they start to creep down.  The toe has way to much material causing them to bunch up. For the price of 3 pair, I could have bought 15 more Lorpen off Camofire. They are packaged up and getting sent back.

Haha so true ... whats funny is that before you have kids you never thought of having a supply in your backpack after you have kids you wonder how you got by without them!  :chuckle:

Interesting topic.... I went to the Lorpen website and see they have about a jillion different styles. Which style do you like best and why?

Thanks, I'm getting tired of Costco socks.

Best piece of gear - your brain...  Close second, your body.  invest in those in that order first.  Otherwise all the fancy gear and gadgets are worthless.  Just think of the old timers in their wool and flannel who can out hunt 100 average hunters decked out in the latest and greatest stuff...

A runner up is your time.  Apply your brain (learning, strategy, experience), your time (scouting, etc), and your body (so you can get out of the truck and work for it) - and the rest of the stuff is just there to talk about and spend your money on during the 'off season'  :chuckle:

I have some books about old timers and some of their tips.  Quite the helpers.  I wonder how the playing field differed then and now, but assume most of them could figure it out just fine.

Depending on the wattage, it could be used to start fires.  They also make great signal devices for S&R.  But it is a heavy alternative to carry hunting.
