375 JDJ OR 309 JDJ
« on: December 26, 2008, 08:10:46 PM »
hey guys,

I have been trying to decide which one of these to buy for my G2 contender carbine.  I like that I can get a factory barrel in 375JDJ and save about 400$.  I am looking for any one that has used either one and how they liked them.  Is the 375 to much of a beast in a 5 1/2 lb rifle.  how they performed stuff like that.

thanks
carl

I had a .375 JDJ some years ago. It was an original J.D. Jones 14" barrel. It was a Handgun , not a rifle.
It was truly a handful. I found that the ammo itself was not all that hot. A necked down .444 marlin to .375 is not necessarily a know accuracy phenom. I did have fun with it, but traded it after a couple of seasons. I am not sure what the .309 is but good luck on your decision.
Some people spend their entire life wondering if they made a difference. Marines don't have that problem.

I have the 375JDJ in the 14" pistol with a muzzle tamer and it is alot of fun to shoot, I shot a bear about 5 years ago with it at just over 100 yds and it did well. I have also been thinking about getting a 24" barrel in 375. if you search the net I found the rifle ballistics on an African hunt web site and it was pretty impressive.
