WALL TENT QUESTION

I currently own a 12x18 bravo which i like alot, but i cant justiify spending 5 to 600 dollars for a 12 x 28  snow slide with cutouts for the stove jacks.  Im looking for any ideas besides a walmart tarp that you guys might have.  Looking to spend 250 or lower.  Thanks for any input.

I know it is spendy but I really love my snow slide.  It helps keep extra heat in, lets more lite in than a blue, green or  brown tarp and never holds any snow.  Just quick tug on the corners and it all come right off.  The tie off loops for your lanyard ropes are sewn in and solid, they have held up for years versus the eye holes in a tarp.  The other benefit is it stuffs in it's own sack and stores much smaller than a tarp.  Mine doesn't have the stove pipe cutout, I got it 8-10 years ago I believe and I don't remember how much it cost but I do know that I love having it.  It stops about 4" longer than the tent eves, I wish it was a little wider like they are now with the stove cutout.

Looking forward to seeing what other people do.  Maybe there is a better solution out there.  I would love to learn about it.

I use a trucker's tarp from Tacoma Tent/Awning.  They made it for me w/ grommets spaced how I wanted and put in a stove jack. The size is about 8' x 12' and if I remember right, it was about $250 or less.  I love it- it's indestructible.

Like those rubberized tarps they use on semi-trucks to keep stuff dry?  How much does it weigh and does it let light in?

I currently use one of those for the floor its 18oz.  Its really heavy almost to heavy to spread it out over the top if i was solo.  Definately work though and would keep the heat in.

We hunt in Washington and in 22 years of wall tent hunting have never needed a snow slide or tarp.  Tent goes up 2nd week of october and comes down 2nd week of november our camp is at 4600ft.

That's exactly what it is. It's not terribly heavy, I can spread it over the tent by myself no problem. It doesn't let any light through

Same here. Heavy duty white tarp will last a long time plus its already got the grommets in place. I would get one with a 2ft overhang on the sides and 6-8 on the entrance end for a covered entry and or kitchen.

Completely agree.  Going on 15 years with my Montana Canvas and never a tarp.  Never understood the tarp thing and I have asked and not once received a answer that warrants a tarp, I would get answers however.  It is like your mom cutting off the ends of the Christmas ham.

Well for starters the tarp keeps your tent dry, clean and it helps keep heat in. It also blocks the UV radiation which prematurely ages and rots the canvas. As noted above if you buy a big enough tarp to overhang the entrance you can have a covered entry or a daylight kitchen, which we prefer and that goes a long way to keeping the carpet clean inside the tent.

I tried a tarp once! I cannot stand the noise..   Never had a problem not using one on either tent.
