Fawn or deer distress calls WORK... I've seen big bear working open hillsides with tall grass just like an English Setter looking for pheasant. They know where the does hide the fawns and actively search for them. Called in some last spring while coyote hunting and another in Sept. using doe distress on my FoxPro ( hunter missed it )

Calling bears anyplace, works. I've had the best luck doing cub squalls. You have to call and call until you're blue in the face. From my experience, it doesn't take long for them to show up if they're around.
